Clayton Kershaw’s return to the mound for his first launch of the season coincided with the return of outdated teammate Yasiel Puig to Los Angeles.

And the clash of stars used to be every bit as dramatic as any Hollywood script can even comprise envisioned.

Kershaw retired the main batter of the game on a floor ball to shortstop, then allowed a one-out single sooner than Puig strode to the plate in his unheard of cool and gentle manner.

The Dodger Stadium crowd gave him a warmth ovation, as that they had for the main six seasons of his profession, sooner than Puig used to be traded to the Cincinnati Reds this offseason. Puig even tipped his batting helmet sooner than digging in in opposition to Kershaw.

After which … BOOM!

Puig hammered an 88 mph slider from Kershaw 405 feet over the fence in left-heart self-discipline for a 2-zero Reds lead, punctuated by a bat flip.

Spherical 1: Puig by KO.

After failing to hit a house traipse in his first 11 games with the Reds, Puig has now homered in back-to-back contests.

Kershaw, within the interim, had his fastball top out at ninety one mph within the outlet inning. The three-time Cy Younger Award winner is working his diagram back from shoulder soreness he developed this spring.
